It's my little superhero!

Happy Halloweenie! We had a pretty great Halloween. Mr. Jack was so dashing in his Buzz Lightyear costume. Does it look familiar? Yes folks, it's the same costume as last year.

Earlier in the month we decided we would ask Jack what he wanted to be this year. I think we went through every villain in Pixar's directory before trying to detour him away from the "bad guys". He ultimately decided that he will go as a dinosaur. Awesome. Dodged the villain costume! A little 3 year old does not need to be Zurg from Toy Story in my eyes.

Then the night before Halloween, 9:30pm to be exact, Jack decided that he will not be a dinosaur. He wants to be Buzz. Luckily it still fits from when he wore it last year, but booooo, $25.00 down the drain to the poor brontosaurus. Oh well.

I must say, I'm glad it's over. I'm more of a Thanksgiving and Christmas kind of girl. Halloween is just a prelude to the greatest 2 months of the year. Family time, thankfulness, amazing food, and love. Bring on the fruit cakes and cranberry sauce!

But to Jack, I must say, I'm so smitten with you. I will always love you....to infinity and beyond.

Snippets // our home

We rent a teeny-tiny apartment that we love. I would much rather have a small, charming, cozy space to live in with my little family of three. We get to soak up every inch of this house and fill it with treasures, artwork, antiques, and love. There isn't a space we dont use. Our family is so close knit, that having anything bigger would seem wasteful. It is quite small and lacks a lot of storage space, but for us, smaller is better. Why would we need a huge space? Just to fill it with objects that we do not need to buy?  Our little apartment is delightfully old. Very old in fact, but this little space just emanates character. Of course we do want a house of our own someday and when we are on the hunt for the perfect abode, I'm sure it will be quaint, cozy, and tiny- just like this gem.

Things I Love About Fall Y'all

October is bittersweet. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.

But Fall is my absolute favorite season. I'm a list girl. I list things. Here it goes:

1. Layers. Finding the coziest sweater, grabbing a book and a blanket, and sipping on coffee.
2. The smell of cinnamon.
3. Crunchy leaves. Jack likes to find the biggest and brightest leaves to bring home from our walks.
4. Chimney smoke. I so wish we had a fireplace during this time of year.
5. Apple picking.
6. Bon fires.
7. Making smores. Even though T.J. doesn't like them.
8. Carving pumpkins.
9. No sweat, no frost bite. The best of both worlds.
10. Candles. I'm almost as obsessed with candles as I am coffee. Woah. I won't go that far, but I do love seasonal candles. We just picked up this amazing carrot cake scented candle. It makes our tiny apartment smell like I am the greatest cook. It's simply amazing.

A weekend through pictures

Weekends seem to take so long to get here and leave faster than we want. I try to take full advantage of weekends, soaking up all the family time I can. We're so busy going through the shuffle of life, we forget to slow down and reconnect. On the weekend, our household is usually filled with the beautiful aroma of coffee, the sound of little barefoot feet running around the corner, and for the next few months, football in the background on Sundays. We use it as a time to recharge for the busy week ahead. Oh, how I wish the weekend had more days..

Welcome!

Welcome to our little family journal! A teeny-tiny space on the Internet to document our happiness, our struggles, our crafts, special recipes, and our adventures. I'm happy to share our special memories and hope you guys enjoy our simple life, because it's the simplistic things that keep our little family humble.
